Background
During the 2015-2016 school year the Grade 5 students will be participating in an optional BYOD program. Your child will continue to have access to school, however, we believe that there are many benefits to students bringing in their own devices including:
- Consistent and quick access at all times
- School/Home continuity
- Increased means for differentiation
- Student learning is focused on using the technology instead of on learning the device
- Increased creativity and engagement.
Requirements
The Grade 55 BYOD program is an extension of the MHS BYOD program and all laptops should meet the specifications found here.
Other Devices
The 2015-2016 school year is considered a pilot year for the BYOD program, as such we are open to the possibility of students bringing in other devices such as iPads or Chromebooks. If your child is planning to use a mobile device they must have a keyboard.
If you are wishing to buy a new device for this program, we encourage you to follow the school specifications. This way the device that you purchase should last at least two or three years with proper care and maintenance.
